Needville’s Makala Smith struck out 12 and allowed only one baserunner as the Bluejays defeated Sealy 4-0 in the final home contest for the Lady Tigers this season. Sealy closed out its softball district season Tuesday with a road contest against Royal.

It’s a lot harder trying to distribute awards fairly when one team has completely dominated across the board. The Lady Tigers recently had several players awarded with All District honors this past week, and unsurprisingly didn’t have the entire squad recognized as Sealy’s girls went undefeated all district season for the first time in history.

Sealy punches tickets to regional meet For the second year in a row, the Sealy girls track and field team won the Area Championship held last week in Navasota. “I didn’t see us winning area again,” said Sealy Head Girls Track and Field Coach Ray Dabney.

Faith Academy took on BVCHEA homeschool on Tuesday in baseball action and dropped a 4-3 decision. Christian Pillow started on the mound for the Knights.

The Faith Academy Knights ran in their final track meet of the regular season on Friday, April 5, at Ft. Bend Christian Academy in Sugarland. The competition was visible in all the events. Twenty private schools were in attendance.

Sealy hosted the District 25-4A track and field meet April 3-4 and came away with strong performances with both the girls’ and boys’ teams. The Sealy girls’ varsity repeated as district champs with a first-place finish at the meet.

Sealy remained tied for second place in District 25-4A with a 7-2 record after claiming wins over Royal and Bellville last week. Sealy is tied with El Campo for second place in district behind leader Needville.

Tigers’ playoff run comes to a halt in gut-wrenching fashion The beautiful game can be so, so cruel to those that Lady Luck decides not to favor. Audible gasps were heard coming from Sealy’s section of the crowd last Friday afternoon, March 28, as the Tigers lost 1-0 in the final five seconds of the game to the Hargrave Falcons in the second round of the division 4A UIL Texas Boys State Championship playoffs.
