The Sealy Lady Tiger soccer team kicked off its regular season Monday with a 4-0 loss in Giddings through the cold.

Sealy and Giddings met for a scrimmage Dec. 17, 2021, and the teams will see each other again next weekend at Giddings’ tournament. The Lady Tigers’ first-year head coach Sydney Jones said the familiarity of the opponent helped gauge improvement from the preseason scrimmage to the regular-season opener.

“We changed up our system since our scrimmage with them, and it took a few minutes for that to sync in, but it looked better than our first meeting with them. We continue to see progress,” Jones said. “38-degree weather was no fun, but welcome to soccer season. We get one more chance to play them at the tournament they are hosting next week.”

This weekend, Sealy will travel to Waller for tournament action Thursday, Friday and Saturday and next week features a non-district match against Jones’ alma mater, Katy High School, before the Giddings Tournament next weekend.
