Wilfred Henry Eckardt, 91, of Cat Spring, Texas, died Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital in Katy, Texas. Wilfred “Jim” was born

Wilfred “Jim” was born September 13, 1929, in Cat Spring, Texas, the first of two children born to Henry Eckardt and Edna Weige. He met the love of his life, Audrey Jessie Womack, and they were married on February 25, 1956. Together they raised three children in Sealy Texas. They retired to the Eckardt family property in Cat Spring in February, 1979, where they enjoyed and maintained a large garden, raised farm animals and lived a wonderful life in God’s country for many years. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1953. He enjoyed deer hunting, fresh and saltwater fishing, cattle ranching and socializing at local community events.

Jim was happiest when he was covered in hay dust or barbecuing with friends. He stayed active in his retirement years working in his woodshop and visiting with neighbors. He and Audrey together maintained the Lutheran cemetery for many years and he particularly enjoyed serving in many roles at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall.

He is survived by his two children, Charles Wilfred Eckardt and his wife, Jacqueline Aline Laredo Eckardt of Katy, Texas and Joyce Marie Chandler and her husband Allan Tony Chandler of Cat Spring, Texas. His granddaughter, Charlsea Audrey-Dolores Eckardt and significant other, Sam Asaad of Katy, Texas, a step-granddaughter, Deanne Christy Lair and husband Rick of Castroville, Texas and a step-great granddaughter Melanie Jean Godwin of Castroville, Texas and a step-great grandson, James Anthony Joslin of Castroville, Texas.
