VIRGINIA LEE HILLEGEIST 1944- 2023

Virginia Lee Hillegeist was born Feb. 7, 1944 and passed away on Feb. 7, 2023 at the age of 79. Virginia was such a beautiful person, a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Virginia is survived by her loving children, son Clay Hillegeist and wife Stacy, daughter Courtney Reuter and husband Arthur, her four grandsons, Hunter and Grayson Hillegeist and Luke and Kyle Reuter, siblings Edward, Donnie, Kenneth, Kitty, and Gloria, and many nieces and nephews. Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, John Hillegeist, parents Charlie and Martha Schneider, and brothers Ronnie and Charlie Schneider.

Virginia worked for ten years in management at Prudential until she became a mother. Her time was then dedicated to her family and raising her children. It was a pleasure for her to open her home to her children’s friends, and they all considered her to be like a second mother.

Virginia led a very active life. She spent countless hours playing racquetball and bridge, and the friendships she built through these activities were very dear to her. One of her proudest moments was earning Silver Life Master in bridge. She loved spending time with her friends and family at her home away from home, walking along the beach looking for seashells, playing dominoes for hours, and gathering for dinners. Before her husband passed away, they could be found most Saturdays at the horse track, and she looked forward to her trips to the casinos.

A funeral service will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas, 77079, 281-497-1500, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, 833 Main St, Sealy, TX 77474, Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers at the service will be Virginia’s grandsons, Hunter and Grayson Hillegeist and Luke and Kyle Reuter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Virginia’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037-1830 or online at lupus.org.
