Thomas “Tom” Wilson passed into eternal glory on Thursday, May 6, 2021. He was 64 years old.

Tom was born to Ann and Larue Wilson on December 19, 1956, in Jasper, Texas. He had two brothers and three sisters.

Tom was raised in Sealy, Texas, where he attended Sealy High School. He graduated high school in 1975 and was the first of his siblings to do so.

He yearned for adventure. So, Tom joined the Navy and attended boot camp in Orlando, Florida. After boot camp, he trained as a boiler technician and was ordered to serve aboard the USS Canisteo. He was honorably discharged in 1979.

After his time in the military, Tom returned to Sealy, where he worked as a truck driver for Koy Concrete.

In the summer of 1992, Tom started college. Where he attended Wharton County Junior College until 1994 and subsequently transferred to the University of Houston Downtown. On Tom’s 41st birthday, he graduated college on December 19, 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.

After college, Tom worked as a systems administrator for a healthcare company until 2001. Then, he returned to school to complete his teacher’s certification. After completing his certification, Tom joined T.H. Roger Middle School as a network administrator and science teacher. Tom remained with T.H. Rogers for nearly 20 years, where he held several different positions. Tom was passionate about teaching. He left a lasting impact on the students and faculty he served and worked with.

Tom met Anne Marie Matta in 2003, and they were later married on Saturday, March 19, 2005. They were blessed with a very loving and encouraging relationship.

Above all, Tom loved spending time with his beloved wife, Anne Marie. They would go on many adventures. Some of which were unplanned, like the impromptu trip to Austin that started with a casual drive on 290 in Brenham. Tom and Anne looked forward to returning to West Texas later this year which was one of their favorite getaways.

Tom was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bellville, Texas.

He was passionate about music. He loved to sing and play the bass guitar, as demonstrated while Tom was a singer in the band “Stryker” in the ’80s! As well as a singer in church.

Tom was a jack of all trades. He loved to do projects around the house, from mowing the lawn to redoing kitchen cabinets. He was quite the woodworker too, making many tables, benches, nooks in the walls, etc. he also had a passion for astronomy and was even writing a book titled Deep Fire.

Tom was preceded in death by his father Larue Wilson, Mother Ann Smahel, wife Donna Allison, sisters Mary Anzaldua, Emilie Zapalac, Elizabeth Kurtz, and mother-in-law Jean Allison.

He is survived by his wife Anne Marie Wilson, son Christopher Wilson and stepson William Norris, brothers William Wilson and Reginald Wilson, and stepdaughters Shannon Daily and Katie Burch.

Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He left a lasting impact on us all. So with that, we are having a Celebration of Life for Tom at First Baptist Church in Bellville, Texas, on Monday, July 5, 2021, from 10-11:30 a.m. It will be a gathering of family and friends to share the impact Tom had on all our lives. Casual attire is recommended.
