Body

Robert Lane Emshoff of Sealy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 21, 2022, at the age of 70. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for his family and friends.

Robert was born on November 7, 1951, in Bellville, Texas. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellville, and after moving to Sealy as a child with his family, he was later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He went on to graduate from Sealy High School in 1970 and began his college education at Blinn Jr. College in Brenham, Texas. He continued his education in College Station at Texas A&M University, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1974. He later earned his CPA certification. In 1980, he joined Seidel Schroeder & Co., where he opened and managed the Sealy office. He spent the next 42 years, until his passing, doing what he loved, providing accounting and tax services in the Sealy community. Along the way, he was blessed to have the opportunity to work with many great people and form many great relationships.

Robert met his wife to be, Donna, early on in life and although he waited several years, on May 24, 1980, he married the love of his life, Donna Gaskamp at Trinity Lutheran Church. Their romance lasted 41 years, and God blessed them with two wonderful children, Sarah and Rob.

Robert was a kind and generous husband, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. He lived a life full of love and enjoyed having a good time with family and friends. One of his favorite past times was playing dominoes (42 or 84). In his early years, he loved riding horses and playing sports like softball, tennis, and volleyball. Whenever he could, he loved spending time outdoors whether at home in his yard watering his grass and taking care of his plants, or at the Emshoff family ranch taking care of the cows, mowing, burning brush, hunting, fishing, or just sitting on his pier as the sun would set drinking a beer and feeding his fish. He was an avid Texas Aggie fan, as well as a Houston Astro fan. He also was a great teacher to those around him both personal and professional. There is no doubt, Robert is now doing the things he loved up in Heaven.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Donna of 41 years; daughter, Sarah Emshoff and son Robert (Rob) W. Emshoff; his sister, Cindy Sodolak, and sister-in-law, Mae Emshoff; sister-in-law, Carol Wenzel and husband, James Wenzel; sister-in-law, Sue Gaskamp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Elton W. Emshoff; his mother, Ruby Emshoff; his brother Jerry W. Emshoff, Sr.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, LeeRoy and Lillie Mae Gaskamp; brother-in-law, Lee Gaskamp; and grandparents, Emil and Erna Emshoff and Edward and Melinda Winkelmann.
