Raul Hernandez Jr., age 68, of Sealy, Texas, went to be present with the Lord on Sunday, June 13, 2021, surrounded by family at Houston Methodist West Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He was born to parents Raul Sr. and Adela Hernandez, on October 17, 1952, in Lockney, Texas. Raul retired in 2014 as a machinist after working 14 years for Quality Machine Shop in Sealy, Texas.

He married Mary Alaniz Hernandez, the love of his life (His Honey), in Chicago, IL in 1972, who survives him. Raul is also survived by three sons; Joe and wife, Jessica Hernandez of Katy, Tx, Rene and wife, Maria Hernandez of Sealy, Tx, Jerry Hernandez and Fiancé, Tabitha Martinez of Houston, Tx, as well as grandchildren, Zia, Heaven, Joe Jr. (JJ), Joseph, Joshua, and Jadon, as well as great-grandchild Legend, as well as his siblings Joe and wife, Anita Galvan of Bensenville, IL, Mary and husband Joe Leal of Lovington, NM.

Raul was predeceased by parents; Raul Sr. and Adela Hernandez; son Raul Hernandez III; and siblings; Rosendo Hernandez, Johnny Hernandez and Sylvia Mexicano.

Raul was known for his love for the Dallas Cowboys anyone who knew him knew he was a die-hard fan and nothing you said would convince him otherwise. His sons would express their dislike of the “Cowboys” by telling him to toss his Cowgirls gear in the trash and he would be quick to respond correcting his sons “It’s THE COWBOYS get it right!” Raul was always blunt about how he felt and depending who you were you would get that Raul. You could get the always smiling sweetheart and on the other hand you could get the grumpy old man as his sons jokingly called him. Either version was Raul at his true essence. He had many past times he enjoyed: listening to Tejano music, exercising, mechanic work, and anything that involved him being outside, but we can all agree his favorite past time was enjoying time with family, he loved joking around with his sons on just about anything, playing with the grandchildren especially giving gifts out during Christmas (always verified batteries included) and last but not least his most cherished times were spent with his wife Mary (His Honey). He would have attempted to bring the moon closer if she would have asked for it. He was that type of husband and father. He is one who will be greatly missed!
