Body

Philomene “Phil” Saha, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Mother- in-Law, and friend to many, passed away peacefully and gracefully at her home surrounded by family at the age of 95.

Phil was truly part of “the greatest generation” and lived a full life true to her Faith. She was born in Noble County, Oklahoma on a farm north of Perry to Frank and Rose Schieffer. Phil graduated from Perry High School and then put herself through St. John’s School of Nursing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating in 1951. She proudly began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. In 1952 moved to Houston, where she continued her nursing career at the Veterans Hospital.

Soon after moving, Phil met the love of her life - Eddie A. Saha. Eddie and Phil married in 1954. They were married for 43 years, until Eddie passed away. They were blessed with 7 children, including back-to-back sets of twins. With 5 children all in diapers at the same time, her motto of “God will never give me more than I can handle” was surely tested.

After raising their children, Phil returned to her love of nursing at Spring Branch Memorial Hospital where she made more lifelong friends. Her nursing career spanned 50-plus years. She was an active member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Community for 50 years and an active volunteer at food pantries, voting polls, and neighborhood committees. She is remembered for many things, but high on the list was her Catholic faith whereby she faithfully attended Mass every Sunday, prayed the Rosary nightly, and lived out her faith and trust in God each day.

Phil was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Eddie Saha, son - Kenneth Saha, daughter - Linda Patrick, and recently, her son-in-law - Jeffery Earl.

She is survived by her son and his wife Lynn and Misty Saha; her daughters and their husbands Susan and George Leatherman, Karen and Frank White, Diane and Brian Sutton; her daughter Ellen Earl; her daughter- in-law Malinda Baker; and her son-inlaw Mike Patrick.

She is also survived by: grandchildren and spouses John and Cecilia Leatherman, Mark and Gabriela Leatherman, Carolyn and Brian Baudoin, Chad and Krystal Treybig, Tanner and Bailey Saha; grandchildren Trace Saha, Taylor Saha, Shannon Saha, Dawn Coufal, Kasi Voorhies, Travis Sutton, Rachel Sutton, Bryce Earl, Brooke Earl; special grandchildren Brian Thompson, Lezlie Askew, Stephanie White; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass and Christian Burial was held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Houston, Texas at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 3, with the Rite of Committal following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Frydek, Texas, at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Phil’s wish was for donations to be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Ministry at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, (713) 465-3414, or online at: https://saintcecilia.org.
