On May 20, 2021, Patrick Owen Ratcliffe, Jr. left us to be with our Heavenly Father. Patrick was born on October 29, 1984, to Patrick and Cheryl Ratcliffe. He grew up in Sealy, Texas and graduated from Sealy High School in 2003.

During his school years he played the trumpet for the Sealy High School Marching Band and was a Sealy Tiger Football player. As he grew older, he became a dedicated New England Patriots fan and had great admiration for Tom Brady’s skill and talent. He followed his career from day one all the way through to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He had a love for all animals and he was drawn to them as much as they were to him. He had many animals growing up and as an adult continued to foster that love. He couldn’t turn them away. Even helped a snapping turtle find a safe path home. This love of animals led him to many successful FFA projects that he raised and showed at the Austin County Fair including a scramble heifer, steers, and chickens. He was very proud of those accomplishments.

When he was a child he visited his Aunt Suzi and Uncle Jeff in Baytown. They took him to his first drag race and he was hooked. He immersed himself with drag racing and loved getting autographs and pictures with the drivers. When his sons were born he shared that love of race cars with them and they attended many races collecting autographs and hats. Patrick had an enormous collection of “cool” “Gimme” hats. There was one for every favorite sports team, one for everywhere he worked and many from anyone he could get to give him one.

From a young age he had a passion for hunting and fishing. If it wasn’t hunting season he was fishing. He was a true outdoorsman. Patrick accumulated many hunting trophies that include big whitetail bucks, bobcats, coyotes, a mouflon, and a 300 lb. hog he shot with a pistol at the creek.

Patrick was a hardworking man and had many strengths and talents. His resume included having working knowledge of various construction equipment, a Heli arc welder for Hennessey Performance, an oil field worker for GSI, Haliburton and Mark III, and driving an 18-wheeler for Timco Logistics traveling all over the United States. Most recently he started a new career with the City of Sealy as a Public Works Technician.

Patrick enjoyed listening to Texas country music and attending live performances. He listened to the lyrics closely and would send songs to family and friends to express his love for them. He felt the music could express best what was in his heart.

He adored his family. He loved taking them to the races, watching football, taking his sons hunting at the family ranch in Burleigh, and surf fishing at Matagorda and Galveston.

Patrick grew up knowing the Lord and had Christ in his heart. Through Immaculate Conception Church he was baptized, received 1st communion, and was confirmed in the Catholic religion. He proudly served as an Altar boy for Immaculate Conception, even grew to be a Master of Ceremonies.

Patrick will be truly missed and never forgotten. We will forever hold tight our love for him and our beautiful memories.

He is preceded in death by his Grandparents Wesley R. Ratcliffe and Effie Kearns Ratcliffe and Grandfather Donald N. Pelfrey.

He is survived by his wife, Marie and two sons, Brady Owen and Mason Patrick; parents Patrick and Cheryl Ratcliffe; sister Jennifer Gregory and her husband Tom; nephew and niece Dayne and Ava Gregory; Grandmother Doris Pelfrey and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for the outpouring of love and support. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
