1950 – 2023

MARY ALICE “Mimi” BROUSSARD NEUMANN, 73, of Weston Lakes, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at her home in Weston Lakes.

Mimi was born March 27, 1950, in Sealy, the daughter of Edward Broussard and Iris Norwood Broussard. Mimi grew up and attended primary school in the Brookshire-Pattison area and high school at Royal High School. During her high school years, you would often find Mimi and her friends dancing the night away at Riverside Hall in East Bernard, which is where she met her lifetime love. She was united in marriage to Fritz J. Neumann III, on July 6, 1968, in Brookshire. They built their first home on the outskirts of Sealy — where they lived for over 27 years.

Mimi was a very creative lady who had a love for styling hair and made a career of doing so. She started her career as a beautician working for two different salons in the Sealy community before venturing out on her own. When Fritz and Mimi built their first home, they built a salon connected to the house.

This is where “The Hair Station” started and operated for nearly 20 years. Mimi wanted her salon ‘at home’ so she could be home when her girls returned home from school and could also make her own schedule in order to support her girls’ activities. The Hair Station was well-known and loved by many — it was a place of love and laughter.

In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her yard, gardening, and her daughters and their activities. Mimi was meticulous about her yard. Her shrubs had to be cut perfectly (never blocking the view from a window), the grass had to be raked and picked-up and you would be hard-pressed to find a weed anywhere. She loved her pot plants too — many of which she named after loved ones.

Mimi’s daughters were the light of her life. She never missed a school activity. She taught herself to sew and spent countless hours making custom twirling uniforms for both of them, into their college years. Mimi was also known for keeping a clean, tidy and organized home and salon. Most who knew her would tell you that you could “eat off her kitchen floor” because it was so clean.

In 2019, Mimi and Fritz moved to Weston Lakes, on the outskirts of Fulshear, to be close to their daughter Stephanie and her family. They built a beautiful home on the 9th hole of the Weston Lakes golf course, where Mimi loved to look out her large back patio windows and often see her son-in-law and grandson playing golf and wildlife — such as deer — make their way into her yard (which was meticulously kept — of course). She absolutely loved her new home and being close to loved ones.

Mimi is survived by her loving husband: Fritz J. Neumann III of Weston Lakes; daughter: Stephanie Kalkomey and her husband, Allen, of Weston Lakes; grandchildren: Sloane Kalkomey, Cash Kalkomey; both of Weston Lakes, Sydney Siptak of Huntsville, Samantha Siptak of College Station; brother: Bubba Broussard and his wife, Rindi, of Cherokee; sister-in-law: Jo Ann Hinze of Bellville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Rochelle Neumann; and parents: Edward Broussard and Iris Norwood Broussard.

Visitation was held from 10 – 11 a.m., Friday Nov. 17, at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.

A Celebration of Life followed in the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Pat Bell officiating.
