Joyce Elaine Canino passed away peacefully in Cypress, TX on Thursday the 18th of March 2022. She was 79 years of age.

Joyce was born on the 26th of April 1942, in Columbus, OH to parents Gus Johnson and Ruth Moss Johnson. She spent her childhood in Columbus, OH with her dad Gus and Virginia and her mom Ruth. She spent most of her time with Grandma Grace and her Aunt Helen. After she graduated high school, she moved to Texas in 1967.

Joyce began her career shortly after her girls attended grade school. She was a very successful businesswoman in the banking industry for 45 years. She met and married Anthony Canino Jr. in 1975. She was a public civil servant for Harris County and moved to Sealy, TX where she retired in 2003. She was an avid home interior decorator, gardener and cook.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Julie Williams and her husband Jim; Jennifer Romano and her husband John; grandchildren Christin Murphy and her husband Derek, Joseph Williams; Kathleen Sagmiller and her husband Jason; Laura Dunn and her husband Harvey; great-grandson Diesel Sagmiller; her sister Marianne Jackson and her husband Tom, brother-in-law Dee Carroll, sister-in-law Carol Johnson and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Gus and Ruth Johnson; Virginia Johnson, her Husband Anthony Canino Jr.; her sister Janice Carroll and her brother Jim Johnson.

Honored to serve as casket bearers are Jim Williams, John Romano, Joe Williams, Jason Sagmiller, Derek Murphy and Harvey Dunn.

Services were held Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church at 10471 Grotto Road, Sealy, Texas 77474: Viewing 12:30–1:30 p.m.; Rosary 1:30-2:00 p.m.; Service 2:00 p.m. Gravesite after service at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 11669 FM 1458 Sealy, TX and reception followed at Mesquite Grill Café at 217 West Front Street Sealy, TX.
