Jack Wilford Miller, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend left this world on April 17, 2022 to be with his Heavenly Father. A memorial service celebrating his life, will be held at San Felipe United Methodist Church in San Felipe, Texas on May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow immediately after graveside services.

Jack was born in Houston to Alice Mae Miller and Merle W. Miller. When his children were younger, he always enjoyed talking vacations with them and, in later years, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His joy of the day was walking early in the morning and seeing the beginning of a new day. His most famous saying was “If a man made it, I can fix it.” He had a big heart and relished helping others.

He was preceded by his parents; his sister Charlene Miller Staine and husband, Clyde; his sister LaMerle Miller-Taylor and husband, Ray; and his brother Walton Neal Miller.

He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. During his service in the navy, he was in the medics and did a tour in Haiti and Guantanamo Bay. After that he served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge as a Sgt. First Class. While in the army, he took his basic training at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He attended Leadership School and was deployed to Korea where he was assigned to a Half-Track. During that time, he suffered from frostbite and went to Japan for R and R. This caused him to be dropped from Leadership School. Then, he went back on the front lines – on the 38 th Parallel. He was still on the front line when armistice was signed and the Korean Conflict was over.

While in the service, he received the Korean War Service Medal, Republic of Korea Medal, National Defense Service Medal – along with several other medals. Jack was a long-time member of Pasadena Boulevard United Methodist Church, where he held several offices. He was a member of San Felipe United Methodist Church in San Felipe, Texas, where he served as a treasurer for many years. He was a past member of the Pasadena Ind. School District P.T.A.

Jack was a past employee of Walgreen Drug Company and Folger’s Coffee Company. He retired from Lubrizol Corporation in Deer Park, Texas, and retired from the same plant in Bayport, Texas in 1996. Jack attended Alamo Elementary School, Hamilton Jr. High, and Reagan High School.

He was a former member of Brookshire Masonic Lodge 1066 A F and M in Brookshire, Texas, and a former member of the Pasadena Lodge 1155 in Pasadena, Texas. He was currently a member of the Olive Branch Lodge 26 in San Felipe, Texas. Jack was a current member of the Order of Eastern Star Archives Lodge in Pasadena, Texas. He was a life member of the Veterans of a Foreign War and a member of American Legion Post No. 442 in Sealy, Texas. Jack served on the Advisory Board of Pasadena Order of DeMolay.

He married the former Clara Marie Miller in Sealy on August 28, 1949, and they enjoyed almost 73 years of marriage. During his lifetime, they traveled quite a bit and enjoyed their children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Clara Marie Miller; son David Russell Miller and wife Jeanie Parker Miller; son Farron Wayne Miller; daughter Jackie Marie Miller Vaughn and husband Steve; his grandchildren Haylie Darlette Miller Wilkerson and husband Scot, Davidson Parker Miller, Ashley Marie Vaughn Bristow and husband Taylor, Addison Michael Vaughn and wife Lauren, and Alexander Channing Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; greatgrandchildren Savannah Noelle Wilkerson, Noah Riley Wilkerson, Emmah Grace Wilkerson, Benjamin Everett Bristow, Charlotte Elise Bristow, Jackson Hayes Bristow, Monroe Elaine Vaughn, and Zephyr Haven Vaughn; sisters-inlaw Mary Bartlett, Theresa Nastoupil, Rita Callas, Kathy Carr, Lynnie Sauter, Jean Callas, Betty Miller; and brother-in-law Harold Carr.

He was very much loved and will be greatly missed by his family, all his many friends, and his church fami-ly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to San Felipe United Methodist Church. San Felipe United Methodist Church is located on the corner of 2 nd Street and FM 1458 in San Felipe, Texas.
