On September 23, 2021, Irene Lucy Lorrine Mlcak passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at Colonial Belle nursing home in Sealy, Texas.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Holman, Texas to John and Mary Peters, Irene grew up in Sealy, Texas. She graduated from Sealy High School in 1950 and married her husband, Alphonse Mlcak, in 1951. Irene and Alphonse raised their five children in Sealy. She was a devoted mother, and also worked in retail and at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church rectory for many years. Irene was a member of the Catholic Daughters and local quilt guild.

She was an extremely talented seamstress and made clothes for all five children growing up. You would always find Irene in the garden putting her impressive green thumb to work. Her creativity and attention to detail was impeccable and shone through her many needlework and quilting projects. Irene was also an avid reader, her favorite being Amish Novels. She loved collecting Department 56 and other fine collectables. Irene always enjoyed family gatherings with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Peters. An infant brother Irvin Peters. Irene is survived by her husband, Alphonse. She is also survived by her children Donna Brown, husband Kenny of Sealy, Suzanne Whitzel, husband Jeff of Sealy, Becky Jones, husband David of Belton, Steven Mlcak, wife Brandee of Sealy, and Chris Mlcak, wife Carrie of Sealy. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laurie Wehring, John Brown, wife Kristin, Erin Bowles, husband Taylor, Emily McLean, husband Drew, Mark Brown, wife Jessica, Tim Brown, Kayla Saucedo, husband Chris, Briley Cotton, husband Ashton, Ryan Jones, wife Josie, Jacob Mlcak, Sarah Jones, Leah Mlcak, and Mackenzie Mlcak, as well as 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are John Brown, Mark Brown, Tim Brown, Ryan Jones, Jacob Mlcak, Taylor Bowles, Drew McLean, Chris Saucedo, and Ashton Cotton.

Her family would like to extend a special thanks to Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Sealy and Amedisys Hospice.

A visitation with the family was set for Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel located at 768 Fourth St., Sealy. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at noon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, interment will follow the mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery all in Sealy, Texas.
