Henrietta Annie Matilda (Wetz) Rychlik of Sealy passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 80. Henrietta was born July 15, 1940 in Richmond, Texas to Henry and Josie Andel Wetz.

On January 23, 1960, she married the love of her life, Joe J. Rychlik at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville, Texas. They celebrated 60 wonderful years together.

They made their home in Sealy, Texas and were blessed with six children.

Born into a family of five siblings, Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. Rychlik, her parents, two brothers Jerry and Henry Wetz and a granddaughter, Kristina Murray.

Mom was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy, Texas and also enjoyed attending mass in Frelsburg, Texas when her and Joe would visit their weekend place in New Ulm. Henrietta was a member of the Sealy Catholic Daughters of America for many years.

Henrietta was a homemaker and then later worked for Sealy Elementary School District, as a cafeteria worker/cook. After retiring from the school district, mom & dad spent many weekends at their New Ulm hideaway.

They loved attending annual church bazaars, listening to Polka music, and seeing old friends at the local bars in New Ulm or Frelsburg.

Mom was an excellent cook. On Sundays, you can always expect a fried chicken dinner, mashed potatoes, and corn. She never learned to make small meals; it was always an abundance of food with plates to go. Her and dad always had a beautiful vegetable garden and would many times share with the neighbors, family or friends from their church. They would enjoy making pickles, sauerkraut, wine, and many times made head sausage. She also enjoyed playing dominoes, whether it be straight, moon, 42, or with her siblings a good hand of 84, which included ice-cold beer. Every Saturday morning you would hear the Polka music blaring from the living room, mom and dad truly loved their Polka music!

Henrietta is survived by her daughters Rosemary Litvik (Oscar) of San Antonio, Bernadette Murray of Katy, Diane Resendez (Manuel) of Sealy, Melinda Witte (Gerry) of Tavener, Marie Drabek of Dallas, and son Joe F. Rychlik (Tawana) of Bellville. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
