Helen Hurd McDonald, born August 18, 1928, died February 13, 2022, in Bellville, TX.

She was born in Sayre, OK to Gladys Ethelyn Hurd and James Roy Fredrick Hurd. Her only sibling, Roy Emerson Hurd was killed in World War II in the Philippines. Helen spent most of her life in Katy, TX, where she was active in ministering to patients in nursing homes, cheering on her children, singing in the choir at Katy First United Methodist Church, and serving as a Sunday School teacher there.

Helen’s greatest joy, besides her children, was sewing, quilting, needlework, knitting and crochet. Her quilts won awards at surrounding county fairs, and she loved making things for her friends and family. Widowed in 1971, she raised her two children who were her pride and joy.

Helen is predeceased by her husband, James Kenneth McDonald, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Kylene McDon ald of Sewanee, TN, son Kenneth (Kenny) Roy McDonald and his wife Jeannie Kay McDonald, three grandchildren, Lucas Russell McDonald, Chance Ray McDonald, and wife Megan McDonald, and Macy Nicole McDonald and great-grandchildren, Ryland McDonald, Tayleann McDonald, and Kaisley McDonald.

Services are at Knesek Brothers Funeral Chapel, 768 4th Street, Sealy, TX, 4:00 p.m. March 2.
