1935-2023

Grace Holtkamp, 88, of Sealy was called Home on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023. Grace Virginia Schroeder was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Bellville to Raymond Schroeder and Leona Ottmer Schroeder. Grace was a life-long citizen of Austin County and very proud of that.

Baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville, Grace was also married to Elroy Holtkamp at St. John on Aug. 30, 1959. They made their home in Sealy where Grace taught English and was the guidance counselor for Sealy High School until her retirement in 1997.

Being involved in community events and organizations was important to Grace and she was a member of Austin County Historical Society, Bellville Historical Society, Texas German Society, Cancer Angels–American Cancer Society, Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers, American Legion Auxiliary as well as several quilting groups.

Survived by her children Jeff Holtkamp and Deanna, of Groom, Tx and Kim Nichols of Katy, Grace was also very proud to be the grandmother to Clayton Holtkamp and Payton, Carter Holtkamp, Erin Nichols and Bradley Nichols and Riley. She was even more proud of her great-grandchildren Avery, Canon and Colt.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy, her parents Raymond and Leona Schroeder, brother Aaron Schroeder, sisters Ilene Zander, Ruth Peters and Ona Lea Pierce and son-in-law Danny Nichols. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Clayton Holtkamp, Carter Holtkamp and Bradley Nichols and nephews Ricky Peters, Wayne Zander and Philip Zander.
