Our dear mother, Edith Jeannette Kleypas Fiedler, age 93, was a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She slipped away peacefully at home on August 9, 2022. She will be laid to rest on August 15, the very same date that her own dear mother was interred 30 years ago. Edith was born September 28, 1928, in Burlington, Texas to Bernard Gerard Kleypas and Nettie Marie West Kleypas. She married her beloved husband Raymond Charles Fiedler, on a cold Thanksgiving morning, November 25, 1948, which resulted in 56 years of a harmonious marriage and seven devoted children. Edith was a beautiful, intelligent, compassionate, and generous person who was entirely dedicated to her family. She instilled in her children an appreciation of beauty and the value of creating a loving home. Towards the end of her life, when she did not always remember our names, she would tell us, “I know I love you.” The one thing she never forgot was to “Praise God from whom all blessings flow.” Her Catholic faith was the core of her being. She attended daily Mass and spent many hours in volunteer service at her church. Her burial date is doubly meaningful since it falls on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her love for our Blessed Mother was reflected in every aspect of her life by surrounding herself with the color blue. Edith loved classical music, reading and gardening. She especially enjoyed the creative arts, using her talent to sew and embroider exquisite pieces which we all treasure. She lovingly hand embroidered 200 dinner napkins for her granddaughter’s wedding reception as a gift for all the guests. She took pride in her baking and cooking for her family with everything being made from scratch. Her cinnamon rolls and Sunday roast dinners will never be forgotten! Her grandchildren reminisce about the endless stacks of pancakes dripping with warm, homemade maple syrup she would make for them when they would spend the night with Grams and Gramps. She would often describe delicious food as being, “powerful good!” She made every day exceptional for her family sharing her love, faith, and wisdom.

Prior to becoming a wife and mother, Edith attended Incarnate Word Academy in downtown Houston and then worked in the nursing profession which suited her benevolent heart. She always believed in doing what was honest and what was good, being selfless and helping others. We will truly miss her kind and gentle soul.

Edith is survived by her seven children, Dennis, Carolyn, Mark, Missy, Therese, Marianne and John; and their spouses, Jared, Bob, Tim and Terri; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of which she loved and touched deeply. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.

As these words are being written, the sun is not as bright, the air does not smell as fresh, melodies are not as sweet, and colors are not as vivid. Edith’s bright blue eyes, soft hands and warm embrace will be sorely missed along with her graceful and spiritual presence — we are so grateful to have had Edith as our mother.
