Delta Marburger was born to Elo and Emily (Hartmann) Marburger in Sealy Nov. 16, 1929. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith Oct. 20, 1930, in Sealy and confirmed at St. John Lutheran in Wallis Feb. 25, 1945, by Pastor Sager. She is a member of St John Lutheran Church in Wallis and taught Sunday School and served at numerous counsel positions.

Delta attended Sealy Public Schools and graduated in 1947. After graduation, she moved to Houston and attended Massey Business College.

Upon graduating from Massey Business College, Delta was hired by Dow Chemical Company as Secretary to Dr. Buetel’s son for many years. In 1950 she transferred to Dow Brazos Oil & Gas Company, responsible for compiling drilling and production activities for The Gulf Coast Production. She received numerous awards and was in the top 3% of employees for Dow Worldwide. Delta was well known by many divisions in Dow and the Louisiana District chose to name their boat the “Miss Delta.” In 1982, Delta retired from Dow and transferred to Apache Corporation but was privileged to continue with Dow insurances which was quite an honor. At Apache, she compiled the drilling reports. Delta retired from Apache in 1992.

After retirement, Delta returned to Sealy, residing in the same house in which she was raised.

She enjoyed travelling, seeing most all the U.S. states. She travelled to Alaska, Canada and Mexico and several trips to Europe, Israel, Egypt, and the Holy Lands.

In Sealy, she joined the Sealy Garden Club and the Austin County German Club of which she is still a member.

Her hobbies include reading, traveling, oil painting and learning to play the guitar. Her favorite pastime was cheering on the Sealy Tiger football team and was in the stands at most games.

Delta was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ora Dell Dittmar and Viola Marburger, and Brother, Leroy Marburger.

She is survived by her twin sister Nelda Marburger. Nieces, Sharon Wagner, and Beverly (Paul) Raschke. Great nieces Melissa (Brian) Compton and Meredith (Ryan) Filip and great nephew Chris (Brittany) Raschke. Great great nephew Kyle Compton and great great nieces Sarah Compton, Addison Filip, Kate Raschke and Clara Raschke.

We want to thank the many people who cared for Delta through her life, especially the loving staff at Veranda House, neighbors Jim & Gloria Turnbull and Marie Page. Special friend Tillie Sell. Therapists Shannon Robers and Laura Nastoupil and the staff at 1st Texas Home Health and the Hospice team from Three Oaks.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Wallis. Interment at the Sealy Cemetery in Sealy.

Delta will certainly be missed, but we rejoice in the promise of Eternal Life.
