Charley Joseph Burchfield, 80, of Sealy, TX, was called home to be with our Lord on August 24, 2022. He was born in Palestine, TX on February 1, 1942, to Burdon Eugene Burchfield and Eunice Mae Griffin. After high school, Charley enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for twenty years working in munitions and communications. While he was stationed in Watertown, NY, he met the love of his life, Helen Cecelia Torrey, and they wed in 1964. They have four children: Rebecca, Jeffery, Joanne and Rachel.

Anyone who knew Charley, knew he was a man of strong faith who loved his family, community, and country. After he retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant and veteran of the Vietnam War, he volunteered his time to various organizations to support these passions. He received numerous commendations for his work ethic and dedication in both his military career and volunteer services. Most recently he was a proud member of both the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Knights of Columbus and the Sealy American Legion. He was brought up with a love and respect for nature and that was reflected in his enjoyment of working in a garden patch, spending time at the beach and camping. His fondness for technology carried over from his military days and he continued to be fascinated by anything ‘geek’ related.

Charley was preceded in death by his parents Burdon and Eunice; his sisters Winnie McCarrell, Leck Wilson, Linnie Rasbeary and Doris Scofield; his brothers Gene and Calvin Burchfield; and his grandson Clint Mitchell Burchfield. Charley is survived by his wife Helen Burchfield, his children Rebecca (Michael) Lacy of Houston, TX; Jeff (Pat) Burchfield of Mineral, TX; Joanne (Chuck) Johnson of Lewisville, TX; and Rachel (David) Hunn of Houston, TX; grandchildren Justin and Trevor Burchfield; Kaitlyn and Brenna Lacy; Ashlee, Stephan (Stephanie) and Brandon (Daphne) Johnson; great grandchildren Clint Burchfield; Hayden, Riley, Brooklynn, Payton & Falyn Johnson; and brother Kenneth (Marilyn) Burchfield of Hattiesburg, MS.
