LCRA to build new power plant to help Texas grid

The Lower Colorado River Authority on Tuesday announced it will build a new peaker power plant in Central Texas to provide an additional 190 megawatts of dispatchable power to the Texas power grid.

The plant is expected to be operational in 2025. A peaker plant is one that typically is used for brief periods during times when the demand for power approaches or surpasses the amount of power available.

The 2023 Show is hosting junior exhibitors from across Texas competing for awards and more than $37,110 in Junior Heifer Show premiums.

In a joint operation between the Austin County and Colorado County sheriff’s offices, a Colorado County man was arrested for the two recent thefts of vehicles from the New Ulm area. Quincy Kyle Janszen, 18, was arrested and taken to the Colorado County jail after deputies recovered stolen itmes from a recent Colorado County burglary.
