During the month of October, Red Ribbon Week is proudly celebrated as a vehicle to bring public awareness to living a drug-free lifestyle. A variety of activities are often used by schools around the country to bring awareness to this very important week.

Boo Bash 2022 was held Oct. 31 in Historic Main Street in Sealy. The outdoor festival with free admission provided entertainment, kid’s game and contest, haunted houses, face painting, a train ride and candy for children of all ages. This year the Boo Bash was sponsored by The Sealy News, Sealy Chamber of Commerce, Discover Sealy and Austin County Insider Magazine. See additional Boo Bash photos on Page 10. Austin County Tax Assessor/Collector Kim Rinn reminds area voters that all countywide polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Marking its 100th year in existence, the Sealy American Legion Post 442 will be celebrating by hosting a Centennial Celebration Nov. 11-12 at the legion hall in Sealy.

Faith Academy held Western Day to get everyone excited, rounded up and ready for the Austin County Fair. All the activities were focused on learning interesting facts about the real wild west of the 1800’s.

David Yoskowitz, Ph.D. was named executive director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at a special meeting of the TPW Commission in Austin. Yoskowitz is currently the senior executive director and Endowed Chair for Socioeconomics at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi.
