Four girls represented Sealy High School at the 2022 Bluebonnet Girls State held at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin June 19-25. Among those in attendance were Krystal Bludau, Jennifer Lopez, Valerie Munoz and Logan Sanders. Four boys attended Boys State, held on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin, the week before. These students were honored with a hamburger supper on July 21 at the Legion Hall. Their parents were also in attendance.

Heavy rains through Texas last week caused flooding, particularly in the Dallas area, prompting Gov. Greg Abbott to issue a disaster declaration for 23 affected counties.

Sealy City Council member Edward Zapalac motioned to express his confidence in Sealy Manager Kimbra Hill after an executive session was held at the beginning of the August 16 meeting of the Sealy City Council.

Wallis City Council elected a new city secretary at its meeting August 17. “I assume the background check has been cleared and everything was satisfactory?” asked Councilmember James King.

A budget for 2022-23 was approved by the Austin County Commissioners Court during its meeting on August 22. “We have been working on that, but there was not that much change from (the budget) last year,” said Austin County Judge Tim Lapham.
