Blinn College District students facing hardships due to COVID-19 may be eligible for financial assistance made possible through Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act funds.

Winter Storm Uri ushered in beautiful winter vistas, but it also caused a host of problems, plunging much of the state into darkness. Some residents were merely inconvenienced by these power outages while others confronted gravely serious dilemmas.

Last Wednesday afternoon, the Austin County Sheriffs Office announced an arrest that ended a months-long investigation into drug and weapon trafficking. Wesley Connell was arrested Wednesday morning on drug trafficking and federal weapons charges in Sheridan and Pedro Cortez was arrested on charges related to the investigation in Eagle Lake.

At the February board meeting, the Austin County Fair Association honored Directors for length of service to the community. Directors work year-round dedicating numerous hours in order to prepare for the annual county fair. This year we will host the 94 Annual Austin County Fair October 8th — 17th.

As Texans across the state continue to deal with the damage from the mid-February winter storm, so does the political fallout in Austin. So far, seven of the 16 board members of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas have resigned.
