Master Gardeners to present final lunch-N-learn series

The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners of Austin County are pleased to present the final presentation in the 2022 Fall “Lunch-N-Learn” series hosted on the third Tuesday of November. The overall series has featured topics related to horticulture with homeowner and backyard gardeners in mind! Speakers are experts in their fields and practical gardeners with great tips and information for everyone. Programs are held in-person at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Austin County located at 800 E. Wendt Street in Bellville. Program registration begins at 11:50 a.m. with the program beginning at 12 noon and concluding about 12:55 p.m. At the conclusion of each session the speaker and the Austin County Master Gardeners will be available to help answer gardening questions.

Nifty ’50s, plus six, holds reunion

The Nifty Fifties, Plus Six (classes from the Sixties) of Sealy High School gathered for a Grand Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Sealy Legion Hall. As class members and guests arrived they entered through a black and gold foil shredded doorway and were greeted by their host class mates. Each one registered at their individual class tables and were given labels to write their names and class year. It wasn’t long before the hall was “buzzing with laughter” and “lots of hugs” from the 200 plus in attendance.

Texas A&M Forest Service urges wildfire safety during hunting season

Texas A&M Forest Service reminds Texans to be careful with activities that may cause a wildfire this hunting season. From 2017 to 2021, Texas A&M Forest Service responded to 3,682 wildfires burning 1.4 million acres. During that time, 42 percent of wildfires occurred during the major hunting season months of September through January.
