Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation will begin a hot mix overlay project Monday, June 7, in Fayette and Colorado Counties, according to a Friday release.

The process will run from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day most days next week. Corresponding lane closures will also occur:

  • From Sunday 10 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m.
  • From Monday 7 p.m. to Tuesday 6 a.m.
  • From Tuesday 7 p.m. to Wednesday 6 a.m.
  • From Wednesday 7 p.m. to Thursday 6 a.m.
  • From Thursday 7 p.m. to Friday 6 a.m.

TxDOT says two stretches will be done on the westbound side only while the third will be in both directions.

Westbound only

Fayette County from 0.028 miles east of US 77 to Colorado C/L

Colorado County from Fayette C/L to 0.11 miles west of Hattermann Lane

Both directions

Colorado County from 0.09 miles east of FM 2432 to Colorado River

The release also says delays are to be expected and motorists are urged to use caution.

“Motorists should expect possible traffic delays, are urged to use caution when driving through the work zone, and should keep the following tips in mind: Slow down and always follow posted work zone speed limits. Speeding is one of the major causes of work zone crashes. Remember, traffic fines double in work zones. Pay attention. Workers and heavy equipment may only be a few feet from passing vehicles,” it says. “Be patient. Delays from roadway construction can be frustrating but it only takes a few extra minutes to slow down for a work zone.”
