The 2022 season of Greater Sealy Little League officially got underway last Saturday, March 26, following Opening Day festivities that included a parade and an on-field ceremony.

After all of the teams paraded down Park Street and converged on Mark A. Chapman Field, the ceremony, hosted by the Sealy Tiger Sports Network’s Jim Turnbull honored the Grigar and Kainer families for their contributions to the league over many years.

The festivities also recognized the head varsity softball and baseball coaches at Sealy High School, Brittney Whitehead and Trey Marik, both of whom had athletes on hand to share moments with Little Leaguers.

After Gary Pless provided the ceremonial first pitch, Leroy Zapalac ushered in the campaign with the fateful words, “Play ball.”
