The unofficial results for the May 24 election have been announced. The only Austin County race in this election was a run-off for the Republican candidate who will run to be the Texas State Representative for District 85 in November.

Voters chose Stan Kitzman, who received 8,134 votes, over incumbent Phil W. Stephenson, who received 5,891 votes, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office. The newly elected candidate was formerly a Waller County Commissioner.

Kitzman will now face Democratic candidate Larry Baggett and Libertarian candidate Michael Miller in the general election on November 8.

In the May 19 edition of The Sealy News an article was published covering a candidate forum related to this run-off election.
