Sealy’s Joseph Cevallos was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal for outstanding accomplishments while stationed at Djibouti Air Force Base Dec. 2-14, 2020.

Cevallos – the son of Joe and Martha Cevallos – is a member of Sealy High School’s Class of 2019 and went into the Air Force after graduation. He did basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, is currently still serving in the Air Force and is enlisted for six years.

“The Air Force Achievement Medal has been awarded to Airman First Class Joseph J. Cevallos for Outstanding Achievement Dec. 2-14, 2020; awarded April 29, 2021,” it says on the certificate. “Airman First Class Joseph J. Cevallos distinguished himself by outstanding achievement as C-130 Apprentice, 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 317th Maintenance Group, 317th Airlift Wing, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.

“During this period, his exemplary actions contributed to the immediate generation of 12 aircraft and 110 personnel who tasked to support increased airlift operations in Djibouti, Africa. He assisted in the completion of 537 aircraft combat preparation tasks and 10 back-to-back aircraft washes in 10 days, executing the drawdown of 700 United States Armed Forces personnel from Somalia in accordance with Presidential objectives.

“Moreover, he aided with the acquisition and distribution of 3,850 mobility items to deploying personnel and helped produce 22 increments of cargo and 4,500 pieces of equipment, ensuring the mobilization of the force on-time and on-target. Finally, his efforts were crucial to the simultaneous generation of 7 aircraft and the launch of a 24-ship Joint Forcible Entry exercise for the United States Air Force Weapons School’s capstone event showcasing Air Mobility Command’s global reach capabilities.

“The distinctive accomplishments of Airman Cevallos reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.”
