Austin County Jail Museum Preservation Project

The 125-year-old Austin County Jail Museum building is beginning to show its age. Built in 1896 as Austin County’s fourth jail, the building is in dire need of interior repairs and preservation. The last prisoner was removed in 1982. It now operates as the Austin County Jail Museum, featuring the jail’s and county’s history through exhibits on the first level.

Sealy’s Super Bowl debut

When Super Bowl LV kicks off Sunday evening in Tampa Bay, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Ricky Seals-Jones will become the first Sealy-born NFL player to make the championship game.

According to Pro Football Reference, which has a record of Texas-born players dating back to 1920, only Eric Dickerson (Sealy High School alum) and Shane Lechler (East Bernard High School alum) were born in Sealy but neither advanced past their respective conference championships.

Hospital Foundation donates to BMC

The Bellville Hospital Foundation, a duly recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, was created in 1959 to raise charitable funds for Bellville Medical Center (BMC). Thanks to the generous donations of the citizens and businesses in Austin County, and the Foundation Director’s challenging hard work, BHF recently presented a check to BMC CEO Daniel Bonk for $221,498.
