The Wallis Police Department (WPD) recently released its 2021 annual report with findings that highlighted the community’s continued fraud concern but significant-ly decreased assault investigations.

This is the first edition of a new monthly Man on the Street portion of The Sealy News where Austin County residents and visitors have an opportunity to voice their opinion on a variety of topics. Interviewees were selected through opportunity sampling; participants were approached throughout the community and agreed to answer a question on the spot. This month’s question was:

The Sealy Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Board of Directors approved the relocation of the EDC office to the Sealy Professional Building during their special meeting held in the Council Chambers Thursday, Jan. 27.

Ryan Mitchell Smith, a 26-year-old charged with stabbing an HPD K-9 Unit Saturday morning, Jan. 22, was arrested in Bellville Tuesday, Jan. 25, for evading arrest and later charged with murder, according to Houston Police.

Bellville Police Department announced two arrests were made Thursday night, Jan. 27, after an incident where shots were fired at The Hill restaurant in Bellville. No other parties outside of the arrested individuals were injured.
