Chasing a calf in a rodeo arena for the chance to earn some money may not sound like a lot of fun, but it comes with amazing opportunities if you are willing to give it a try! I enjoyed it so much that I have actually competed five times across the state of Texas. It was a brand-new concept to our family when we first heard about it eight years ago.

Wednesday afternoon, Billy Murphy pulled into the Sealy Walmart Distribution Center with a smile as wide as his trailer while family, friends and coworkers greeted him at the gate to celebrate a milestone of 3 million miles driven without an avoidable accident that was more than two and a half decades in the making.

Independence Day was celebrated through the rain around Austin County over the weekend with a 190th birthday and plenty of fireworks. The City of Industry – Texas’ oldest permanent German settlement – celebrated 190 years since its founding with a party in the park on Main Street Saturday, July 3.

EXIT SHUFFLE

After the regular westbound exit off Interstate 10 to Highway 36 in Sealy was closed over the weekend, the exit to Rexville Road (Exit 718) was condensed with Exit 720 as a detour option back into town. This traffic pattern is scheduled for use for approximately two months as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s expansion project.

FATHER’S DAY CAR SOCIAL

The Father’s Day Car Social in downtown Sealy provided bountiful opportunities for fathers to make memories with their children Saturday afternoon. Cars lined Main Street on the right, left and center and more cars spilled into the parking lot – where the Burns Pit BBQ food truck operated – and some more stretched around the corner onto Fowlkes Street for folks’ viewing pleasure.
