Quanell X lashed out at Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes and Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn for the handling of a Jan. 16 incident at Lindemann’s store in Industry.

Quanell X held a press conference on the steps on the Austin County Courthouse Monday, Jan. 23 and called Koehn “a clown” for his handling of the case.

Prior to the press conference, Koehn issued a press statement on the incident. It reads as follows:

71st Industry Volunteer Fire and Rescue event Saturday

Saturday, July 23, is the 71st Annual Celebration and fundraiser for the Industry Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

It will be held at the Firemen's Park on Highway 159 in Industry, and Fried Chicken plates with all the trimming will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for $15 per plate, dine-in or carry out. There will also be a variety of cakes and pies available.

According to the flier for the event, all donations and support will help to purchase firefighting equipment to better serve the community.

Second Annual Mudbugs on Main in Sealy

The second annual Mudbugs on Main "all-you-can-eat" crawfish event was held this past Saturday, May 14, hosted by Patches and the Shops of Downtown Sealy.

Roads were closed in the Sealy Main Street district for the event, and the crawfish was cooked by Brenton Slusser, owner of The SlussShack Daiquiris To Go. D.J. Dilly Billy spun tunes for the crowd, and the Bubba Westly Band provided live music for crawfish-munchers.

Since the culinary kitchen inside Sealy High School opened in October, it has been creating realworld opportunities for students. The culinary arts project was a Career and Technical Education (CTE) dream that was fulfilled when donors helped Sealy ISD fund a full, commercial-grade kitchen that features all the tools and appliances that would be found in a professional environment.

A flood of color was introduced to downtown Sealy over the weekend as artist Hillary-Kate Kotwal finished the final touches on a mural covering the north side of The R.O.M. Church building at 314 Fowlkes Street.

HOLIDAY SEASON BEGINS

Margaritas were flowing over the weekend as businesses in Downtown Sealy welcomed guests through their doors for the second annual Margaritas on Main event to celebrate Small Business Saturday. Despite the gloomy weather, shoppers came from Sealy and beyond to support local businesses and the Shops of Downtown Sealy.

Thanks given

Thanksgiving spirit was plentiful in Sealy last week as citizens worked together to ensure everybody had a chance to enjoy the holiday. Organizations like HOA Incorporated of Austin County Meals on Wheels and Saddleback Saloon Bar and Grill took unique approaches to make sure locals had an opportunity to enjoy a sense of community last Thursday.
