Quanell X lashed out at Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes and Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn for the handling of a Jan. 16 incident at Lindemann’s store in Industry.

Quanell X held a press conference on the steps on the Austin County Courthouse Monday, Jan. 23 and called Koehn “a clown” for his handling of the case.

Prior to the press conference, Koehn issued a press statement on the incident. It reads as follows:

Austin County assists task force with drug bust

               On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at approximately 5 a.m., members of the Austin County Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant and arrest warrants at the Prairie View Inn located at 21893 FM 1098, in Prairie View. The operation was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Westside (HIDTA) Narcotics Task Force.

Republican candidate chosen

The unofficial results for the May 24 election have been announced. The only Austin County race in this election was a run-off for the Republican candidate who will run to be the Texas State Representative for District 85 in November.

Voters chose Stan Kitzman, who received 8,134 votes, over incumbent Phil W. Stephenson, who received 5,891 votes, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office. The newly elected candidate was formerly a Waller County Commissioner.

Suspects arrested in equipment thefts

On Tuesday, May 17, the Austin County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service regarding the possible location of stolen property at 3449 Oil Field Road, in Bellville.

The owner of the stolen construction equipment was in contact with Fort Bend County Sheriff’s investigators, who eventually contacted the Austin County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival at the location, Austin County Sheriff’s deputies immediately located the stolen equipment.

Multiple vehicle accident with school bus on Hwy 36

Body

A multiple vehicle accident involving a school bus took place today, May 18, just after 4 p.m. on State Highway 36, a few miles North of Sealy.

Persons involved were transported via Emergency Medical Services from the scene. Parents were arriving at the scene to pick up their children.

More information will be released on this incident as it is received.

I-10 Eastbound lane closed Friday night

Body

This Friday Night, May 13, there will be a single lane closure for IH-10 Eastbound at the Brazos River Bridge for the purpose of pouring the next bridge deck.

The closure will be implemented after 10 p.m. and will be end by 8 a.m. the next morning. Message boards and police officers will be in place for this operation, so traffic delays are expected.

Election winners announced in key local races

Election results for key races among Austin County candidates have come in, although still unofficial, with 15 of 15 precincts reporting.

The same three candidates in the Wallis City Council election have come out on top as in early voting, although the ranking changed. Joell Prado finished with the most votes at 165. James King ended up with 159 votes, and Clark Main, Jr. received 155. In this race six candidates were competing for three seats.

Early Voting outcomes released

Unofficial Early Voting election results are in for some races in Austin County. According to the numbers received, just over seven percent of registered voters in the county participated in early voting or sent in absentee ballots.

In the Position 5 race for the Sealy Independent School District Ryan Reichardt received 209 early votes, and Ralph Bond received 80 votes.
