Dud Campbell was at the kitchen table, contemplating what to do next on his novel, “Murder in the Soggy Bottoms.” It’s been a constant concern to him for several years now, since the idea struck him. The idea was a love affair between a duchess in a castle in Europe and an American truck driver on special assignment to her home country.

Almost three years later

The final outs were recorded and the 2020-2021 Sealy High School sports season came to an end Friday, May 14, and closed a third season of sports coverage for me down here in the lone star state. I’ve been able to reflect a little bit and since the third anniversary of my college graduation May 20, I’ve been feeling a little extra sentimental about my time here and the crazy roller coaster ride that my tenure has been.

Zaskoda signs with Southwestern

Sealy senior Blake Zaskoda signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Southwestern University Pirates next year during a joint signing ceremony at Sealy High School May 19. Zaskoda helped the Tiger baseball team to a thirdplace finish and a bi-district championship in his final season that started with a 3-14 overall record.

Texas baseball wins Big 12

The University of Texas baseball team finished off its regular-season Big 12 championship with a run-rule win over West Virginia last weekend to earn the No. 1 seed heading into the conference tournament. Sealy High School alumnus Justin Eckhardt recorded 13.1 innings pitched in six regular-season appearances during his redshirt freshman season. Softball garners 10 all-district honors

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball squad that finished third in District 24-4A and was the laststanding representative in the third round of the players, landed 10 all-district honors. Two earned superlative awards, three were named to the firstteam all-district, two earned second-team alldistrict selections and three were named all-district honorable mentions.
